Find Your People
You gotta get out there
It’s really hard to get out and fight fascism without other people in your community. We all need to take care of each other and that means reaching out, sharing resources, and being there for whatever comes.
The first place to look is in your own neighborhood. Make a point to speak to your neighbors and see what they have to say. Form social bonds with those you can, and make plans for what to do if you need to act to protect one another or someone else.
- Join a community group. Getting involved with other people in your community is integral to fighting fascism and protecting each other. Indivisible is one of the most accessible groups, but check your city to see what all of your options are. If you are home bound, ask if there are web streams or zoom meetings available, or any other home-based activity that may be available for any particular group.
- Follow local people you don’t know on social media and see what they’re doing. Ask if you can join in – people who are fighting fascism welcome others who want to help!
- Join book clubs or other hobby groups, which are some of the best ways to meet others, and they will give you a way to learn or improve a new skill as well as to find allies.
Making new connections can be scary, but just remember that a lot of others are feeling exactly the same way. You can do it, and you’ll be glad you did.
